Trent Sr. William Chester Trent Sr. died Monday, August 6, 2007, at Appalachian Christian Village. A native of Sullivan County, he had lived most of his life in Washington County. He was a son of the late Charles R. and Virgie Smith Trent. Mr. Trent was a retired carpenter and a member of Hawthorne Church of the Brethren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Oma L. Trent; a son, Roy M. Trent; a brother, Howard Trent; and a sister, Pauline Humphreys. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert G. and Margie Trent and William "Buck" and Jean Trent, all of Johnson City; a daughter, Virginia R. Lane of Piney Flats; a daughter-in-law, Norma Trent of Johnson City; a brother, Mitchell Trent of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Danny Trent and his wife Pam, Jeff Lane, Russell Lane and his wife Betty, Laura Smith and her husband Layton, Bill Trent and his wife Tina, Tom Trent and his wife Angie, Beth Trent, David Ford and his wife Lois, and Darlene Johnson and her husband Russell; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Trent will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel with Rev. Hollace Ford and Clinton Andrews, minister, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 9, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. and travel in procession to the cemetery. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles White, Bruce Bealer, Vernon Humphreys and Bryan McKinney. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
