He was then about 75 years old. Me enlisted in 1775 when he was 16 years of age, in Hillsboro, Orange County, N. C., with Alfred Moon. He served in a regiment which was commanded by Col. Francis Nash. Other officers were Alfred Moon and Lawrence Thompson. He enlisted for six months and was discharged in March, 1776, at Wilmington. N. C.
