Hopkins have sold & do hereby transfer & convey unto George E Howell & his heirs for ever the tract of land described below or all or our interest, right title & claim that we have & own in said land which lies on Paytons Branch in the 11th Civil District of Jackson County Tennessee Beginning at a chestnut at the head of Peytons Branch, thence a South East direction to an oak in W.C. Howells line on top of a ridge; then Eastwardly to W.C. Howells North East Corner in the Flynns Lick & Cookeville road; then with said road to an oak near Salum Church & running so as to exclude the Grave Yard; then down the with the Buffalow road to the beginning Containing 25 acres more or less it being the same land owned by Jno J Brown at his death & on which his widow lived at her death We covenant with Geo E. Howell that we are each seized & possessed of a one tenth undivided interest in said land except W.C. Howell who owns two tenths therein & we will warrant & forever defend the title to the shares sold by us as follows W.C. Howell two shares E.A. Brown one Shares Manda E Hopkins one share J.T. Smith & M.D. Hopkins the above named bargainors with whom I am personally acquainted with each of them acknowledged that they each executed the within & foregoing Deed to be their act & Deed for the purposes therein expressed & also came before me N.B. Smith wife of R.A.Smith & N.C. Hopkins, Wife of N.D. Hopkins with whom I am personally acquainted with who appeared before me separate & apart from their said Husbands & acknowledged the above & foregoing Deed to have been done by them freely, Voluntarily & under-standingly without any compulsion or constraint upon the part of their said husbands to Wit R.A.
