And in consideration of ye signal bravery and persevering zeal of William Thompson a private in the said line have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the said William Thompson a tract of land containing four and twenty eight acres lyin and being in our County of Davidson on the North Cross Creek about five miles from Cumberland river adjoining the preemption of Jessee Maxy. Beginning at a red oak and dogwood, Running West three hundred and twenty poles to two black oaks on the aforesaid Maxy north boundary. Thence North two hundred and fourteen poles to a hickory. Thence East three hundred and twenty poles to a stake. Thence South two hundred and fourteen poles to the beginning. Together will all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenances to the said land belonging or appertaining. To hold to the said William Thompson his heirs and asigns forever & c. &c. Which land was surveyed for the said Thompson March 15, 1786 by Thomas Molloy D. S. in consequence of a military warrant No. 990 Located Nove. 30, 1785. The Grant signed Richard Caswell with seal of the State affixed. Dated Sept. 15, 1787. Countersigned Jas Glasgow Sec.
