Suggs 06/30/99 Mrs. Fanny Sharp Suggs, of Florence, S.C., died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Elizabeth House, the hospice residence in Hendersonville, N.C., after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Suggs was born in Elizabethton in 1931. She was a daughter of the late James Kelly and Amanda Kate Fleming Sharp and was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Earl Suggs. Mrs. Suggs began her teaching career as a high school band director in Tennessee, and went on to teach public school music and private music lessons in Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. She directed and sang with many church choirs. She was most recently a member of Central United Methodist Church, Florence, S.C., where she once directed the children's choirs and was a member of the Chancel Choir. She was active in the United Methodist Women as a circle leader and past president, and served as a delegate to the SC United Methodist Church Annual Conference. She served on the board of and performed with the Masterworks Choir. Mrs. Suggs enjoyed gardening, birding, boating and crafting. A skilled seamstress, she designed and created a series of liturgical banners for Central United Methodist Church. She also served on the Board of Directors of Hospice of the Pee Dee. Survivors include two daughters, Amanda Suggs Libbey, Seattle, Wash., and Rebecca Suggs Williams, Hendersonville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Greer Katherine Libbey and Bennett Morgan Williams; and three sisters, Mary, Alice and Corrine Sharp, all of Elizabethton. Courtesy of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel SUGGS -- A memorial service for Mrs. Fanny Sharp Suggs, of Florence, S.C., who died Monday, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Central United Methodist Church, Florence, S.C., and will be followed by a reception and celebration of her life in the church fellowship hall. The family will receive friends at her home this evening, June 30. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, Florence, S.C.
