Stephens 10/05/99 Mr. John L. Stephens, 81, 116 Malone Drive, Jonesborough, Tenn., died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Carter County and the son of the late William W. and Celia Belle Teague Stephens. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. Mr. Stephens was an active member of the Fairview United Methodist Church and a member of the church choir. He was a member of the Rhea Lodge #47, Shriners-Jericho Temple and Leesburg Ruritan. He was a retired millwright. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Moyers Stephens of the home; one daughter Johna Farrar, Fall Branch, Tenn.; one son, Richard Stephens, Gray; two grandsons: Troy Stephens and Kyle Stephens, both of Gray; two sisters: Margaret Manning, Elizabethton; and Hazel VanHuss, Bedford Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home (753-0514), Jonesborough, is in charge of the arrangements STEPHENS — Funeral services for Mr. John L. Stephens, 81, 116 Malone Drive, Jonesborough, who died Monday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Virgil Booher and the Rev. Dale Jarrett officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, in the Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roy Campbell, Gilbert Ingle, Albert B. Rogers, Lawrence Smith, Albert D. Rogers, Jake Perkins, Jim Good and Rickey Deakins. Honorary pallbearars will be Tony Tipton, Don Gage, Sam Moffitt and all his millwright buddies, Joe Anderson, Ralph Fulkerson, Sr., Ralph Fulkerson, Jr., Alf Smith, Steve Lewis, Jim Ward, John White, Frank Payne and a special friend, Dr. James Mahoney. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999.
