Mrs. Russell was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Ellen Carver Clark. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, John Kirk Stevens, her second husband, Ephron Russell, and also a special niece, Elsie Whitehead. Mrs. Russell was a member of the Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include an adopted niece, Sylvia Tolley, Whitemore Road, Hampton; two special nieces, Jacqueline Street, Sally Cove Creek Road, Hampton, and Juanita Goad, Roan Mountain; several other nieces and nephews and several step-children and step-grandchildren. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. RUSSELL -- Funeral services for Mrs. Arie Russell, 85, 789 Browns Branch Road, Hampton, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. L.D. Berry and Rev. Tommy Mains officiating. The Carr Family will provide the music. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Simerly Cemetery, Browns Branch Road, Hampton. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, will be Roger Stevens, Darrell Hill, Dana Hill, Donnie Chambers, Harold Chambers and Ronald Street. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Hensley Clark, Roy Goad, Bruce Stevens and Daunt Stevens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a special niece, Sylvia Tolley, 104 Whitemore Road, Hampton (Fairview Community). Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
