CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Hampton Elbert Renfro, 45 Jan 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Hampton Elbert Renfro, 88, U.S. Highway 91, Elizabethton, died at his residence Monday, January 5, 2004. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Wade and Bessie Hampton Renfro. Mr. Renfro was a retired supervisor in the knitting department of North American Rayon Corporation. He served in the U.S Army Air Force during World War II. Mr. Renfro was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Latta Renfro, and two sisters, Anna Renfro and Jennieve Rains. He was a member of the Unaka Baptist Church and the adult men's Sunday school class. Survivors include a brother, Carl Renfro, of the home; a sister, Aleene Peters, of Louisville, Ky., and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2004 in the Blevins Cemetery with the Rev. Harold McNabb officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday will be Leonard Holton, John Fletcher, Ernest "Gebe" Ritchie, Wayne Ritchie, Bobby Joe Fletcher and Wayman CarrierHonorary pallbearers will be the adult men's Sunday school class of Unaka Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2004 in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
