CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Emma Anona Davis Peters, 3 Mar 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Emma Peters Emma Anona Davis Peters, 90, U.S. Highway 321, Hampton, died Monday, March 3, 2003 in the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late William Norman and Mary Docia Lacey Davis. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Peters was a member of Union Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and department secretary. She was also active in the Women Mission Union. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles X. Peters; three brothers, Horace Davis, Carl S. Davis, and Ira Davis, and a very special grandson, Staff Sgt. Robert E. Stocton. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Wayne and Missy Peters, Unicoi; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kay and Herman Hill, Hampton; Jane and Fred Shouse, Elizabethton; Patsy Stocton, Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Gladys Lyon, Lakewood, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Kathy Leonard, Cindy Cline, Debbie Jones, Jeff Stocton, Nikki Foster, Laura Peters, and Christopher Peters, and eight great grandchildren, Jessica Cline, Stacey Stocton, Matthew Stocton, Andrew Jones, Allison Jones, Chloe Foster, Shelby Stocton, and Grayson Stocton. PETERS -- The funeral service for Emma Anona Davis Peters, 90, U.S. Highway 321, Hampton, who went to her heavenly home on Monday, March 3, 2003, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Stout, Rev. Mickey Beal, Rev. Horace Bowers, and Rev. James Strickland officiating. Music will be under the direction of Union Baptist Church choir and Allan Foster, soloist. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Christopher Peters, Jeff Stocton, Allan Foster, Tony Jones, Danny Cline, and Matthew Stocton. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Johnson, Dr. Larry W. Schmidt, Dr. Mark F. Young, Dr. Frank Johnson, Dr. Mark A. Lockett, the nurses of the 6300 wing at the Johnson City Medical Center, and all her friends at Union Baptist Church.
