Peters Mrs. Maggie Pearl "Bets" Peters, 92, 349 Peters Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Friday, February 2, 2001, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mrs. Peters was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Mike and Lucy Buckles Peters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Buster Peters, January 31, 1985, a son, Jack Peters, and by 10 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Peters had hosted the Peters Hollow Egg Fight at Easter for many years. She was a member of Stoney Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lucy and Kenneth Shankle, Elizabethton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford and Dessie Peters, Norman and Patsy Peters and Buford and Sherry Peters, all of Elizabethton; a daughter-in-law, Marsha Peters, LeClaire, Iowa; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Bernalda Peters, Ruth Jones, Ida Peters and Ruth McKenzie; and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Lucille "Bo" Taylor. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. PETERS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Pearl "Bets" Peters, 92, 349 Peters Hollow Road, Elizabethton, who died Friday, February 2, 2001, were conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, February 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Danny Simerly and the Rev. D.C. Byrd officiating. Dennis Laws and Drew Shankle provided the music. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 4, in the Blevins Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, will be Randy Kirks, Mike Sturgill, Chris Schuettler, Todd Lowe, Gale Colbaugh and Lloyd Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Bremer and the Staff of the 3rd Floor of Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Housecall Hospice and all her friends and neighbors. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at her residence. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Peters to the Blevins Cemetery Association, c/o Sofia Wilson, 237 Peters Hollow Road, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
