Morton Wiley Jr. Morton, 70, 1700 West Elk Avenue, Stanley Trailer Court, Elizabethton, died Friday, December 7, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Morton was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Wiley Barnett and Fannie Morton. Mr. Morton was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation and was also a painter and lead pourer. He had served in the U.S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Ruth Winters Morton; a son, Charles Morton, Hickory, N.C.; a daughter, Maudie Morton, Elizabethton; two stepdaughters, Susie Fair, Watauga, and Brenda Stanley, Elizabethton; a stepson, Terry Bowers, Bluff City; three half sisters, Margie Francis, Jonesborough, Jean McGee and Shirley Barnett, both of Johnson City; and four half brothers, Sanford Morton, Hampton, Lloyd Barnett, Johnson City, Dallas Barnett, Jonesborough, and Brown Barnett, Telford. Four grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. MORTON -- Memorial services for Wiley Jr. Morton, 70, 1700 West Elk Avenue, Stanley Trailer Court, Elizabethton, who died Friday, December 7, 2001, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, December 10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Stout and the Rev. Art Webb officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
