Moreland 10/11/99 Robert H. Moreland, 76, 128 Ford Lane, Elizabethton, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late J.M. and Bertha Lipps Moreland. He was preceded in death by a brother, G.L. Moreland. Mr. Moreland attended the Free Will Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps. veteran of World War II, and a lifetime member of Captain Lynn H. Folsom V.F.S. Post No. 2166. He was a retired postal service worker and member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge No. 238 F&AM, the Scottish Rite and the Jericho Temple. Mr. Moreland was also a former Scout Master with Troop 25 of the First Free will Baptist Church and Troop 27 of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Barbara White Moreland, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Gene and Geneva Moreland and Greg and Melissa Moreland, all of Elizabethton; one sister, Mrs. Herman (Myrtle) Deal, Elizabethton; three grandchildren: Todd Moreland, Sommerville, W. Va.; and Travis and Tara Moreland, Elizabethton. Three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. MORELAND -- Funeral services for Robert H. Moreland, 76, 128 Ford Lane, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, with the Rev. Phil Poston officiating. Music will be under the direction of Carol Bowers, organist. A Masonic service by Dashiell Masonic Lodge No. 238 F&AM will follow the regular service. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with military honors to be accorded by Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post No. 2166 and bagpipe music by Howard Ensor. Active pallbearers will be Todd Moreland, Travis Moreland, Tara Moreland, Charles Moreland, Sonny Deal, Ronald Oliver and Henry Clay White. Honorary pallbearers will be Herman Deal, Landon Campbell, Ralph Smith, M.L. Braddock, Paul Bishop, Raymond Townsend, Ed Crum, Calvin Quesenberry, past and present employees of U.S. Post Office, Don Parkey and all the Sunday and Wednesday afternoon tennis cronies. Everyone will meet at 10:15 a.m. Monday at Tetrick Funeral Home to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, or at the residence, 128 Ford Lane, Elizabethton, any time. For those who prefer, memorials in lieu of flowers may be sent to a favorite charity. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
