CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Caroline (Callie) Hyder McKenney, 21 Mar 1934 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Obituary appeared in the March 22, 1934 Elizabethton Star Mrs. W.C. McKenney, aged 63, died at her home near Oak Grove yesterday afternoon at one o'clock after a prolonged illiness. Mrs McKenney had been an active member of the Freewill Baptist church, of that community for 40 years. She is survived by her husband, W.C. McKenney; four daughters, Mrs. Lige Gouge, Mrs. Emmet Adcox, Mrs. John Hill, Mrs. Bill Roberts; four sons; George, Nat, Ike and John McKenney; one sister, Mrs. C.E. Roarks; and three brothers, Charlie, Dave, and John Hyder. Funeral services will be conducted at the home Sunday afternoon at two o'clock by the Rev. Harry Lenord. Burial will be made in the family cemetery. Active pall bearers; Ora Hyder, Montie Hyder, L.C. McKenne, Sam Hyder and John Collins. Honorary pall bearers; Blaine McCorkle, Frank McKenne, Bill Collins, Charlie Collins, Andy Sims, Frank Reed, Date Collins, Basel Hyder, Morey Hyder, Jack McKeene, Edgar Barnes, and C.B. Hyder. Flower bearers: Mrs. John Reed, Mrs. Montie Hyder, Mrs. Pheba Hyder, Miss Mary Collins, Miss Ann Collins, Mrs. Vicie Kyte, Mrs. Mag Kyte, and Mrs. Charlie Collins. (Mrs. W.C. McKenney was Caroline (Callie) Hyder daughter of Nathaniel Canada (Dick) Hyder 1844-1888 and Ollie Jane McKinney 1845-1932.
