Anna M. Manning

Anna Muriel Manning, 84, Old Watauga Road, Elizabethton, 
went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at the 
Pine Ridge Care Center.
Mrs. Manning was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the 
late T.O. and Stavania Hatcher Stout. She was also preceded in 
death by a son, James Phillip "Snake" Manning, September 23, 1999.
Mrs. Manning was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. Prior to 
her illness four years ago, she was a faithful member of Fairview 
Baptist Church and was Sunday School Director and Vacation Bible 
School Director for 15 years.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Manning; two daughters and a 
son-in-law, Jean Turner, Knoxville, and Jackie and Carroll Reese, 
Dublin, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, Sam "Paul" and Margaret 
Manning, Jonesborough; a brother and sister-in-law, Harry and 
Pauline Stout, Elizabethton; seven grandchildren and 15 great-
grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, October 9, at 
Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Jordan and Mr. Glenn Keller 
officiating. Music was provided by Jane Walker. Graveside services 
and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 10, in the Stout 
Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brian Manning, Paul 
Manning, Jeff Walker and other family and friends. Honorary 
pallbearers will be the staff and employees of Pine Ridge Care 
Center, Sam Stout, Tommy Stout and Tom Glass. The family received 
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may 
also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the 
cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be 
made to the Fairview Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Range 
Community Christian Church. Condolences may be e-mailed to the
