Massengill Mary Lou Larimer Massengill died Thursday, February 16, 2006. Mary was a native of Carter County, Tenn., and resided in both Watauga and Elizabethton, Tenn. She graduated from Range Elementary School, Happy Valley High School and Paul's School of Hair Design. She also attended Elizabethton State Vocational School. Mary was a retired Administrative Aide with the Carter County School System, having worked at Range Elementary, Central Elementary and Happy Valley Elementary Schools under the Title I Program. She had also worked at the S.H. Kress Company and North American Rayon in Elizabethton. She was a member of the Range PTA, a long-time member of Brick Christian Church, as well as a charter member of the "Come Join Us" Ladies Circle of her church. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Massengill, her parents, Bob and Cora Holly Larimer, and two brothers, David Edward Larimer and Robert Truman Larimer. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Lewis Goodson, Speedway, Ind., and Bobbie Lynn Pearson, Route 1, Elizabethton, Tenn.; and four grandchildren, Joshua Andrew Lewis and Jennifer Susanne Lewis, Speedway, Ind., Curtis Edward Pearson and Cory Richard Pearson, Route 1, Elizabethton, Tenn. Funeral services for Mrs. Massengill will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, February 18, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Dr. Don Marshall, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Karen Sams. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the funeral service. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 19, in the George Mottern Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Curtis Pearson, Cory Pearson, Joshua Lewis, Darrell Goodson, Sonnie Mottern Jr., Herbert Curde, Joe Mottern and Tony Mottern. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Pealer, Robert Trent and Doug Smalling. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Brick Christian Church, 815 Watauga Road, Watauga, TN 37694.
