Lewis 3/22/00 Carrie E. Lewis, 89, Life Care Center of Elizabethton, formerly of 214 Barker Street, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. Ms. Lewis was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Isaac and Eva Taylor Peters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lewis, August 11, 1971, four sisters, Bertie Elliott, Ellen Pierce, Maude Hyder Fair and Daisy Richardson, a step-sister, Gladys Carrier, and a niece, Agnes Carter. Ms. Lewis was a homemaker and a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, where she taught the Primary Sunday School Class and served as former president of the Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include 16 nieces and nephews, Virna Peters, Opal Wilson, Margie Estep, Peggy Peters, Patty White, Wesley Richardson, Eddie Richardson, Richard Lewis and John B. Lewis, all of Elizabethton, Leona Taft, Butler, Charlie Hyder, Astor, Fla., James Livingston, Fredericksburg, Va., Charlotte Plumber of North Carolina, Helen White of Alabama, Keith Grindstaff and Betty Jane White, both of Kingsport; several great-nieces and great-nephews, several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, and one special great- great-niece and her namesake, Carrie Alderson, Elizabethton. Lewis, 89, Life Care Center of Elizabethton, formerly of 214 Barker Street, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Rev. Bill Greer and Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Nursing Staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton, the men of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, Franklin Transitional Care of Johnson City Medical Center, Dr. Jerry Gastineau and Dr. Ralph Mills.
