CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Leonard Hyder, 4 Nov 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Leonard Hyder, 80, U.S. Highway 19E, Hampton, died Thursday, November 4, 2004 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Nat H. and Ethel Woodby Hyder. Mr. Hyder was retired from the Carter County School System. He was a member of the Sunset Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lillian Whitehead Hyder; a daughter and son-in-law, Lenora and Buddy Wiseman, Hampton; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Carol Hyder, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Regina Hyder, Melinda Hyder, Michelle Crumley, Michael Moody and Kimberly Carr; five great-grandchildren, Dustan Crumley and his wife, Amanda; Corey, Dakota and Colton Crumley and Mikayla Moody; two great grand- children, Gracie and Ryan Crumley; one sister, Eva Casey, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews and a great host of friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2004 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Terry Richardson and Rev. Gary Whitehead officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2004 in the Whitehead Cemetery, Hampton. Melinda Hyder and the Sounds of Victory will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, will be Larry Townsend, Gene Honeycutt, Arnold Hughes, Clarence Garland, Kelly Crain, Danny Cox and Tom Reine. Honorary pallbearers will be men of Sunset Free Will Baptist Church, Herman Miller, Jerry Hawkins, Dr. Chris Shoals, Dr. Maria Becka, ICU Nurse Nikki, Rev. Troy Davis and Rev. Shane Waters. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
