Holtsclaw 02/23/99 Conley I. Holtsclaw, 84, 107 Burbank Road, Roan Mountain, died Monday, February 22, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Holtsclaw was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Weaver and Ethel Johnson Holtsclaw. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, a half-sister and a very special friend, Marshall Stockton. Mr. Holtsclaw was a member of Burbank Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation after 42 years. Survivors include his wife, Blanche Heaton Holtsclaw, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Bob Roberts, Johnson City, and Sue and Jack Barnette, Roan Mountain; a son, John Holtsclaw, Johnson City; three sisters, Onza Johnson, Beulah Hughes and Bernie Hughes, all of Roan Mountain; a half-sister, Renalee Whitehead, Hampton; and two brothers, Dana Holtsclaw, Bristol, and Carmon Holtsclaw, Roan Mountain. Four grandchildren, a great- grandson and several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, is in charge of arrangements. HOLTSCLAW -- Funeral services for Conley I. Holtsclaw, 84, 107 Burbank Road, Roan Mountain, who died Monday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, with Rev. Richard Blevins and Rev. Leonard Shehan officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Heaton Family Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be J.T. Hughes, Jack Barnette, Tommy Jarrett, Harold Jarrett, Jack Troutman, Shirl Dyer, Don Hughes and Ed Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Ned McWherter, Jess Jarrett, members of Burbank Free Will Baptist Church, Haskel Pierce, fellow employees of North American Rayon Corporation Textile Department, Willard Dial, Spence Stockton, Robert Greer, Ted Barnette, Reynard Calhoun, Carl Keys, Clayton Lester, Herm Barnette and Willis Murray. The family will receive friends at the Rhododendron Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may also call at the residence, 107 Burbank Road, Roan Mountain, any time. The family, friends, ministers and pallbearers will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday. Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, is in charge of arrangements.
