Grindstaff 03/30/99 Carson H. Grindstaff, 70, 808 East B Street, Elizabethton, died Monday, March 29, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. Mr. Grindstaff was a native of Carter County and a son of the late William Ray and Pearl Oliver Grindstaff. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Vadia Taylor Grindstaff, March 29, 1997, and a son, Terry Grindstaff, April 30, 1996. Mr. Grindstaff was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation and was a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church where he was an assistant Sunday School Teacher of the Senior Men's Class. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Thomas Crow, Brookeville, Md.; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Herbert Eugene and Eva Grindstaff, Elizabethton, Gary D. and Carolyn Grindstaff, Johnson City, and Mrs. Peggy Grindstaff, Elizabethton; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Arnold, Elizabethton; and a brother, Leslie Grindstaff, Elizabethton. Seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. GRINDSTAFF -- Funeral services for Carson H. Grindstaff, 70, 808 East B Street, Elizabethton, who died Monday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. J.D. Neeley and Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Dale Williams, soloist, will provide the music. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, will be Gary Arnold, Eric Grindstaff, Todd Grindstaff, Kevin Grindstaff, Jared Arnold and Jeff Farmer. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Men's Sunday School Class of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. A special "Thank You" to the Doctors and Nursing Staff of Johnson City Medical Center Hospital and the McLeod Cancer and Blood Center of East Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at his residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
