Gouge Fred Thomas Gouge, 81, Kingston, Tenn., died Friday, April 5, 2002, in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. A Carter County native, he was a son of the late Frank and Lena Rainbolt Gouge. Mr. Gouge was preceded in death by a son, Troy Gouge, two brothers and one sister. He was a retired mechanic from Sherwood Chevrolet. He had served in the U.S. Navy. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Gay Bowers Gouge, Elizabethton, two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Ann and Donny Belcher, Greeneville, and Mary Ellen and Tim Bowers, Elizabethton, one son, Freddie Allen Gouge, Kingston, Tenn., one brother, Ralph Gouge, Elizabethton, three sisters, Helen Carrier, Novella Williams, and Barbara Berry, all of Elizabethton, three grandchildren, Rhonda Cardwell, Thomas Gwyn and Travis Massey, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. GOUGE -- Funeral services for Fred Thomas Gouge, 81, Kingston, who died Friday, were conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Brent Seals officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Wilson Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, will be Thomas Gwyn, Troy Blevins, Howell Lyons, Barry Carrier, Walter S. Carrier and Brian Gouge. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of the brother, Ralph Gouge, 228 Steel Bridge Rd., Elizabethton.
