Bowers 09/20/99 Carmon Roosevelt Bowers, 95, 614 Walnut Street, Elizabethton, died Saturday, September 18, 1999, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. Mr. Bowers was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Emmitt and Carrie Bowers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ina Bowers, July 12, 1990, a daughter, Ruby Bowers, and a brother, McKinley Bowers. Mr. Bowers was a retired mechanic at North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member of the First Assembly of God. Survivors include two sons, Carl Bowers, Pensacola, Fla., and Donald W. Bowers, Elizabethton; a daughter, Lena Peters, Elizabethton; and two brothers, Joe Bowers, Johnson City, and Horace Bowers, Elizabethton. Nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. BOWERS -- Funeral services for Carmon Roosevelt Bowers, 95, 614 Walnut Street, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ken Bewley and Rev. Earl Golden officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Colbaugh Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, will be Steve Bowers, Johnny Range, Benny Whittimore, Trond Shepard, Scott Bowers and Brian Bradshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Estep, Billy Merritt, Bobby Thomas, Gaither Hubbard and Max Todd. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a son, Donald W. Bowers, 614 Walnut Street, Elizabethton. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
