Levern Stenberg, 96, of Wausa, died Sunday May 9, 2010 at Osmond General 
Hospital.

Funeral services will be Wednesday May 12, at 10:30 a.m. at Thabor Lutheran 
Church in Wausa with the Rev. Michelle Oetken officiating. 

Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Wausa.

Visitation was Tuesday at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Wausa. 

Levern was born Nov. 27, 1913 to O.W. (Oscar) Anderson and Ellen C. (Thorell) 
Anderson in rural Wausa. She was baptized on Dec. 19, 1913 and confirmed in 
May 1928 at Thabor Lutheran Church. She graduated from Wausa High School in 
May 1930. On March 9, 1938 she married Marvin E. Stenberg at Thabor Lutheran 
Church. They farmed north of Wausa where Levern enjoyed gardening, canning, 
baking and sharing with family, friends and shut-ins. 

In later years she was recognized by AKSARBEN with The Good Neighbor Award, 
recognizing her service to others. Levern was active in church and served 
various leadership positions in the Thabor Lutheran Church Women and served on 
the executive board of Augustan Lutheran Church Women-Nebraska Women Synod. 

She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, writing letters of encouragement, 
congratulations and sympathy to people and liked visiting with the people. 
Before marriage she did domestic work for the P.H. Petersen family, a local 
attorney. 

Levern is survived by her daughter, Zelma (Clayton) Anderson of Wausa; son, 
David (Peggy) Stenberg of Lexington; grandchildren, Shelley (Dan) Collins of 
Omaha, Jayme (Roger) Eggerling of Creighton, Guy (Michelle) Anderson of Wausa, 
Joel (Jill) Stenberg of Omaha, and Jeffrey Stenberg of Lexington; great-
grandchildren, Megan and Laura Collins of Omaha, Rachel (Ryan) Sukup of 
Norfolk, Anthony, Austin, Andrew and Rebecca Eggerling of Creighton, Jessica 
and Emily Anderson of Wausa and Lis Stenberg of Omaha; great-great grandson, 
Logan Sukup of Norfolk; sisters, Juliet Moris and Zelda Anderson of Norfolk; 
sister-in-law, Heddy Anderson of Wausa and nieces, nephews, cousins and many 
friends. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Stenberg on April 18, 1974; 
parents, O.W. and Ellen Anderson; brother, Medill Anderson; brother in law, 
Stanley Moris and great-niece, Carrie Barney.
